Spring 2023 Football Information
Why Join the Jr Lancers for Spring Football?
Jr Lancers spring football is a perfect opportunity for young football players to showcase their skills and get a feel for the game. This league is designed to give players the opportunity to keep their skills sharp during the off-season, as well as offer the high school a preview of the community's commitment to football, providing a platform for the players to develop their abilities, gain experience, and create a foundation for their future in the sport.
The league consists of teams made up of players from the surrounding areas, ranging in age from 6 to 15 years old. The players are divided into age-appropriate groups, ensuring a level playing field and providing a safe environment for everyone to play. Each team is comprised of around 15 players, with a mix of positions, including quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, offensive and defensive linemen, and linebackers.
The league plays its games on Saturday mornings, and each team will play approximately 8 games throughout the season (jamboree, 5 games, 2 playoff games). The games are played on a regulation-sized football field, complete with end zones, yard markers, and goal posts. The players wear full football gear, including helmets, pads, and cleats, giving them a realistic and exciting experience.
The league emphasizes safety, with experienced coaches and referees overseeing each game. Players are taught proper tackling techniques and how to play the game responsibly, while also learning the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline. The league also provides training sessions for coaches, teaching them the latest techniques and strategies to improve the players' abilities and maximize their potential.
The Rancho Cordova Jr Lancers are committed to helping the players in the league achieve their full potential. We invite high school coaches to attend the games, keeping a watchful eye on the players, and identifying those with exceptional skills for potential recruitment into the high school's football program. The league provides an opportunity for the players to get noticed and possibly earn a spot on the high school team for the upcoming season.
The league also fosters a sense of community, bringing together young football players from the surrounding areas, creating a sense of camaraderie and shared experiences. Parents and families are encouraged to attend the games and show their support, creating a fun and exciting atmosphere for everyone.
