Building a Foundation

The player resources page is a place where players can come to get a handle on the game of football. Players enter the league at all levels of skill. It's not uncommon for many players to be first time players in the league. This means that not everyone is very knowledgeable in all the terms, positions, and responsibilities in the game. To help players get up to speed as quickly as possible it's good to give players a foundation to draw off of. Even experienced players can check these resources out and get a bit of wisdom or insight that they hadn't considered before, making them that much more efficient at their positions.

Find Your Resources

Choose a resource based on what you need to learn. Don't feel like you should watch and understand everything all at once. These videos are best when viewed and given a chance to sit and be digested by your mind. Sometimes multiple viewing will be necessary to get the most out of each resource.

USA Football Introduction to Football Video Series - This is a series of videos designed to help players and coaches understand the game better from the perspective of youth sports. This is a comprehensive video series that will give your player a foundation of what to expect, and how to play the game.
Basic Football Terminology - This video covers a lot of basic terminology that players will be expected to know.
Introduction to Offense and Defense Positions - A thorough explanation of the positions and many of the rules in the game. For new or returning players it can be helpful to review all the positions and rules in the game.
Hawk Tackling Techniques - The Jr. Lancers adopted the Seahawk's Hawk Tackling techniques. This is to help players understand how to properly keep their head out of the tackle while applying full force in their tackle. All players should watch this video to get an idea of what coaches want to see from tackles.
