Training Camps
A free training camp is held before the season begins to help evaluate and place players on appropriate teams. Camps will be hosted at the Mills Middle School football field, and coaches, college football players, and even ex-professional football players have volunteered to help our youth train. Enroll your players today to help give them additional training and mentorship from football leaders in the community.
Training camps are provided to the community free of charge, and anyone may attend. Your player does not need to be enrolled in a football program to attend training camps. We strongly encourage any players or coaches that plan on enrolling in the upcoming season to attend training camp. This will offer players and coaches a chance to become acquainted before the season begins. If you volunteered as coach or assistant coach, instructions will be sent to you before the season begins with team assignments and camp schedule.
What to Expect
Players will be challenged with conditioning and skill building exercises. A training program developed by the Cordova Lancers will be offered to the community. High school coaches and players will deliver targeted training to youth players to help build skills, knowledge, and confidence at the youth level. We encourage youth players that want to be future high school football players to attend training camp to maximize their exposure to training and low contact football. As players exit our program they will be better equipped for the upcoming season of football.
Players that attend the first event will get a camp shirt. We will give out prizes each week to the MVP of each age group. At the end of the training camps coaches will select a camp MVP from each age group to get a special award.
New coaches are encouraged to attend training camp as well. Get to know the staff, and let us know about your interest in coaching. There's training and resources available to parents or coaches that want to participate with Jr Lancers summer football. I know how tempting it can be to wait until the last minute to see who else is helping. Speaking up early will help let us know who is interested in coaching so we can make the best possible coaching assignments.
